Go up through Vidigal and face the trail to the summit of Morro Dois Irmãos to get one of the most spectacular views of Leblon and Ipanema beaches.
The two rocky mountains that frame the end of Leblon Beach are more than just a postcard setting; they form Morro Dois Irmãos, one of Rio de Janeiro's most coveted and fascinating treks. The trail to the "Big Brother" (the highest peak) offers a complete cultural and natural immersion.
The adventure starts in an unusual way: access to the trail is through the top of the Vidigal community. Visitors usually go up the favela by moto-taxi or local vans, experiencing firsthand the vibrant energy, urban art, and daily routine of the hill before entering the forest.
The hike lasts about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The route alternates between dense forest areas and clearings that serve as natural viewpoints (highlighting the stunning view over Rocinha, Brazil's largest favela). Upon reaching the summit, at 533 meters altitude, the scenery is breathtaking: Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the beaches of Leblon and Ipanema, and Christ the Redeemer reveal themselves in a glorious and unforgettable angle.
Cariocando Tip: The moto-taxi ride up Vidigal is a thrill of its own! Hold on tight and enjoy. After descending the trail, take a break at Bar da Laje at the top of the community to have a cold beer and some snacks overlooking the sea.
